Description: Manages user privilege levels and access control on Cisco ME1200 switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ME1200-PRIVILEGE-MIB?
ME1200-PRIVILEGE-MIB is a Cisco-proprietary module (a private version of a standard Privilege-style MIB) used on the Cisco ME1200 Carrier Ethernet access switch to manage role-based access control for its web management interface. It exposes a configuration table mapping management modules/web pages to read-only and read-write privilege levels for both configuration and status/operational views. This is primarily a software/administrative-configuration monitoring MIB: it lets an operator audit which privilege level is required to view or change each web-UI module, rather than reporting hardware sensors or performance counters. It is a vendor-private extension layered on top of the switch's own privilege/access-control model and is not itself dependent on external standard MIBs beyond common SNMP conventions. It is typically deployed on Cisco ME1200 access/aggregation switches in carrier Ethernet networks where administrators need to verify or audit web-management access-control settings via SNMP. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ME1200-PRIVILEGE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ME1200-PRIVILEGE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco ME1200 Carrier Ethernet access switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would walk me1200PrivilegeConfigWebTable/me1200PrivilegeConfigWebEntry, using me1200PrivilegeConfigWebModuleName to identify each web-UI module, then check me1200PrivilegeConfigWebConfigRoPriv/RwPriv and me1200PrivilegeConfigWebStatusRoPriv/RwPriv to see the required privilege levels for configuration versus status views. If a module's RwPriv is unexpectedly set to a low privilege level, that would reveal an over-permissive access-control misconfiguration on the switch's web interface. This lets operators audit access control without logging into the web UI directly.
What Can Be Monitored
- web module name
- read-only privilege level (config)
- read-write privilege level (config)
- read-only privilege level (status)
- read-write privilege level (status)
