Description: Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch MIB for Ethernet Protection Switching (EPS) configuration and monitoring per ITU-T G.8031.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ME1200-EPS-MIB?

ME1200-EPS-MIB is a Cisco private MIB for the ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch that implements Ethernet Protection Switching per ITU-T G.8031 linear APS. It exposes capability limits (maximum protection instances, MEPs, WTR and hold-off timer ranges) and per-instance configuration data such as protection domain, architecture (1+1 or 1:1), and which flow currently carries traffic. Its main monitoring value is fault and resiliency status: tracking whether a protection instance is running on its working or protection path reveals whether an underlying link has failed and switched over. It is built on the ITU-T G.8031 standard and works together with the related ME1200-MEP-MIB, which supplies the fault-detection triggers that drive protection switching. It is deployed in metro Ethernet ring or linear-protection topologies requiring fast, sub-50ms failover for carrier services. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ME1200-EPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ME1200-EPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

Querying me1200InstanceTable entries by me1200InstanceId reveals each EPS protection instance's me1200InstanceDomain and me1200InstanceArchitecture. Cross-referencing me1200InstanceWorkingFlow shows which flow, working or protection, currently carries traffic; an unexpected switch to the protection flow indicates a working-path fault. me1200EpsCapabilitiesWtrMax and HoldOffMax bound the configurable timer ranges an operator can set.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active working/protection flow per instance
  • EPS instance domain and architecture
  • protection switching capability limits
  • hold-off and WTR timer settings
