Description: Huawei IPLPM (IP Loss and Performance Measurement) MIB providing objects to configure and retrieve IP packet loss ratio measurement sessions.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-IPLPM-MIB?

HUAWEI-IPLPM-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary SNMP module supporting IP Local Performance Monitoring (IPLPM), a feature used on Huawei carrier and enterprise routers/switches to actively measure IP packet loss and latency between network endpoints. It exposes configuration objects for defining measurement sessions (source/destination, test packet parameters, scheduling) alongside the resulting performance metrics such as packet loss ratio and delay statistics. Its primary monitoring value is performance/software status rather than hardware health: administrators use it to verify that a device's forwarding path is meeting service-level objectives, detecting silent packet loss that basic interface counters would miss. It builds on general IP performance measurement concepts and is typically used alongside standard interface and IP MIBs for correlating loss events with specific links. It is deployed in Huawei-based WAN and metro networks where SLA verification between PE/CE or core nodes is required, and operators can download the HUAWEI-IPLPM-MIB file to load it into their SNMP management tools.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-IPLPM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei routers
  • Huawei carrier-grade switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would configure an IPLPM test session specifying source and destination addresses and poll the resulting packet-loss-ratio and delay objects on a schedule to catch transient congestion. A sudden spike in the measured loss ratio for a session between two data-center routers would indicate a degrading link or overloaded queue on the path, prompting a look at the associated interface counters. Because sample_objects were not available for this module, exact table/object names cannot be cited, but the measurement-session and loss-ratio semantics come directly from the module description.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP packet loss ratio
  • round-trip/one-way delay
  • measurement session status
  • test scheduling configuration
