What Is CYAN-RS64-MIB?
CYAN-RS64-MIB is a proprietary MIB from Cyan, Inc. (an optical transport equipment vendor later acquired by Ciena) covering the RS64 regenerator section module used in OC-192/STM-64 optical transport chassis. It exposes per-module status and configuration data for the OC-192/STM-64 regenerator section (RS) layer, identifying each module by shelf, module, and RS64 instance and reporting its administrative and operational state. This is chiefly a hardware/line-status MIB: cyanRS64AdminState and cyanRS64OperState/cyanRS64OperStateQual reveal whether an optical regenerator interface is administratively enabled and actually up, while cyanRS64SecServState reflects secondary service state and cyanRS64AutoinserviceSoakTimeSec governs how the interface is brought into service after insertion. It is specific to Cyan's optical platform and generally works alongside other Cyan chassis/module MIBs (e.g. higher-layer path or line MIBs) rather than public standards. It is deployed in metro/regional optical transport networks running 10G (OC-192/STM-64) circuits on Cyan optical switching platforms. Engineers can download the CYAN-RS64-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CYAN-RS64-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cyan, Inc. optical transport chassis
- OC-192/STM-64 regenerator module
Monitoring Examples
An operator would walk cyanRS64Table/cyanRS64Entry, keyed by cyanRS64ShelfId, cyanRS64ModuleId, and cyanRS64RS64Id, to check cyanRS64OperState against cyanRS64AdminState for each regenerator port. A port administratively up but operationally down, or with a degraded cyanRS64OperStateQual, points to a fiber break, signal degradation, or module fault on that 10G optical link. cyanRS64AutoinserviceSoakTimeSec would be checked when a newly inserted module is still in its soak period before being declared fully in-service.
What Can Be Monitored
- regenerator admin/operational state
- operational state qualifier
- secondary service state
- auto-insertion soak timer
- shelf/module/port identification
