Category: Device Management

Description: Defines common system information objects for LTNET-branded network equipment including device identification and interface status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LTNET-COMMONINFO-MIB?

LTNET-COMMONINFO-MIB is a common-information MIB for LTNET-branded network equipment, providing baseline system identification and IP interface configuration objects shared across that vendor's device line. It exposes objects for the device's IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server, and physical (MAC) address, along with a device identification number, a system clock/time object, and an alarm delay timer, grouped under common info and sub-joined info object groups. Administrators use it to monitor core software/system-level configuration state -- confirming IP addressing and DNS settings are correct, checking the device identification number for inventory purposes, verifying the system clock, and tracking the configured alarm delay used before fault conditions are reported. As a vendor common-info MIB it typically underlies or complements other LTNET product-specific MIBs that reference this shared identification data. It is typically deployed on LTNET networking equipment as a baseline system-information module alongside the vendor's other functional MIBs. Engineers can download the LTNET-COMMONINFO-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LTNET-COMMONINFO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • LTNET-branded network equipment

Monitoring Examples

An operator would check ltnetIpNetAddress, ltnetIpMask, and ltnetIpDefaultGateway together to confirm a device's basic IP configuration is correct after a provisioning change, and verify ltnetIpDns to ensure name resolution is configured. ltnetCommIdentifyNum would be polled for inventory/asset tracking, while ltnetCommonTime confirms the device's system clock is synchronized. A misconfigured ltnetAlarmDelayTime could explain why fault notifications are delayed or arriving sooner than expected after a triggering condition.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP address/subnet/gateway configuration
  • DNS server configuration
  • device identification number
  • system clock/time
  • alarm delay timer
