Category: Device Management, Textual Conventions and Registries, Vendor: Huawei

Description: Huawei product identifier MIB defining OIDs for Huawei product families used as sysObjectID values for device identification.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-PRODUCT-ID-MIB?

HUAWEI-PRODUCT-ID-MIB is a Huawei enterprise identification MIB rather than a functional management MIB; it defines a registry of OID arcs, one per Huawei product family or model, used as the value returned in sysObjectID (from the standard SNMPv2-MIB) by Huawei devices. It exposes no runtime data itself, only a static naming hierarchy that maps a numeric OID to a specific Huawei product line. Its monitoring value is indirect: an NMS reads a device's sysObjectID, looks it up against this MIB's arcs, and thereby determines exactly which Huawei hardware/software platform it is talking to, which drives which vendor MIBs and polling profiles to load. It depends directly on the standard SNMPv2-MIB (sysObjectID) and complements other Huawei enterprise MIBs by providing the identification key for them. It is used across essentially all Huawei-managed network equipment as a foundational discovery aid rather than a per-device monitoring feature, and the HUAWEI-PRODUCT-ID-MIB OID list serves as the reference for matching a discovered arc to its corresponding product line.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-PRODUCT-ID-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei network equipment (routers, switches, and other SNMP-managed devices)

Monitoring Examples

This is effectively a conformance/identity module with no runtime data objects; it contains only OID definitions such as product arcs under the Huawei enterprise tree, not tables of live values. A monitoring system uses it only to translate a polled sysObjectID value into a human-readable Huawei product name for inventory and asset reporting, not to detect faults or performance issues.
