Category: Device Management, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages switch stacking on H3C/3Com stackable switches, providing stack topology, member device roles, and inter-unit link status information.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is A3COM-HUAWEI-STACK-MIB?

This is a joint 3Com/Huawei (H3C) MIB for managing switch stacking via IRF (Intelligent Resilient Framework) on stackable H3C/3Com switches, exposing stack topology, member roles, and configuration objects. It provides stack-wide configuration such as maximum stack members, MAC persistence policy, and link-delay timing, alongside a per-member device configuration table recording each unit's ID and priority used to elect the stack master. For hardware/software status monitoring it is central to stack health: current member count and topology state reveal how many units are in the stack and whether its ring/chain topology is intact, letting an admin detect a member that has dropped out or a stack that has split, while a dedicated trap object alerts on stacking events like member join/leave or role changes. It is a vendor-proprietary MIB layered on standard entity/bridge conventions for representing each stack member as a distinct managed entity. Typically deployed on H3C/3Com/HPE stackable switches configured in IRF stacks for high-availability, single-management-point campus or data center switching. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the A3COM-HUAWEI-STACK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in A3COM-HUAWEI-STACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/3Com/HPE stackable switches (IRF)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll h3cStackMemberNum against the configured h3cStackMaxMember to confirm all expected units are present in the stack, and check h3cStackTopology to verify the stack is in its expected ring (not degraded to a chain) configuration. Querying h3cStackDeviceConfigTable/h3cStackDeviceConfigEntry by h3cStackMemberID reveals each unit's h3cStackPriority, so a missing member entry would indicate a stack member has failed or been physically removed, with h3cStackTrap firing a notification at the moment of the event.

What Can Be Monitored

  • stack member count vs. maximum
  • stack topology (ring/chain) state
  • per-member stack priority and role
  • stack member join/leave events
