What Is CYAN-XCVR-MIB?
CYAN-XCVR-MIB is a Cyan Inc. (packet-optical transport vendor, later part of Ciena) MIB for monitoring pluggable optical transceiver (XCVR) modules installed in Cyan optical networking shelves. It exposes a transceiver table keyed by shelf, module, and transceiver ID, carrying administrative state, compliance and connector codes, and vendor identification fields such as part number and description, alongside an auto-in-service soak timer used during turn-up. Its core monitoring value is hardware/optics health and inventory — confirming a transceiver is administratively enabled, identifying its type/compliance for interoperability checks, and tracking the soak period before it's brought fully into service — analogous to how DOM (digital optical monitoring) data reveals degrading optical power/health on other platforms. It is a Cyan-specific extension MIB and would be used alongside broader Cyan chassis/shelf MIBs that provide the shelf/module inventory context this table indexes into. It is deployed on Cyan packet-optical transport platforms (later Ciena Z-Series) in service-provider optical transport networks. Engineers can download the CYAN-XCVR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

An operator would poll cyanXcvrTable/cyanXcvrEntry, keyed by cyanXcvrShelfId, cyanXcvrModuleId, and cyanXcvrXcvrId, to check cyanXcvrAdminState and confirm a given transceiver slot is enabled rather than administratively down. Fields like cyanXcvrComplianceCode and cyanXcvrConnectorCode would be checked when troubleshooting an interoperability mismatch, while cyanXcvrCyanPartNumber and cyanXcvrDescription confirm the exact optic installed. cyanXcvrAutoinserviceSoakTimeSec would be watched during fiber turn-up to see how long the module has to run cleanly before being auto-placed into service.
