Description: MIB providing network management system (NMS) integration objects for KENYA platform network equipment monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is KENYA-NMS-MIB?

KENYA-NMS-MIB is a vendor NMS-integration MIB that exposes bay-based hardware inventory and proxy service status for network equipment managed under the KENYA platform. It provides two broad categories of data: a hardware inventory table describing installed bay modules (name, address, index) and a consolidated status object, alongside proxy group status objects for HTTP, SSN, and MMS gateway services. It is used chiefly to monitor hardware presence/health via the consolidated bay status and per-bay hardware table, and to monitor software/service status through the proxy group status objects for each application protocol relay. No explicit dependency on other standard MIBs is evident from the available module description. It is typically deployed in NMS platforms managing multi-bay chassis equipment where both physical modules and proxy application services need centralized status visibility. Engineers can download the KENYA-NMS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in KENYA-NMS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • KENYA platform network equipment
  • chassis-based network appliance

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll bayHwTable (indexed by bayHwIndex, with bayHwName and bayHwAddress columns) to enumerate installed hardware bays and detect when a module is missing, misaddressed, or has changed; bayConsolidatedStatus gives a quick roll-up alert if any bay's health degrades. Separately, polling proxyHTTPGroupStatus, proxySSNGroupStatus, and proxyMMSGroupStatus would reveal if a specific application-layer proxy group has failed or gone offline, distinguishing a hardware bay fault from an application/software service outage.

What Can Be Monitored

  • bay hardware inventory
  • consolidated bay hardware status
  • bay name and address
  • HTTP proxy group status
  • SSN proxy group status
