Category: Protocol: DNS, Vendor: Juniper

Description: Defines conformance statements for DNS proxy and resolution management on Juniper Networks E-series platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-DNS-CONF?

Juniper-DNS-CONF is a Juniper Networks AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module for the E-series (ERX) router family, describing which objects and groups of the DNS-related MIB(s) the SNMP agent's DNS component actually implements. As an agent-capabilities module it does not itself define runtime data objects like counters or status tables; it exists purely to declare implementation conformance for management-station discovery. Consequently it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status — it is a meta-MIB describing what a companion DNS-configuration MIB module supports on this platform, not a source of uptime, CPU, memory, or fault data itself. It explicitly depends on and references the underlying Juniper E-series DNS configuration MIB module whose object groups it declares support for. It is used internally by NMS/SNMP tooling when querying Juniper E-series (ERX) routers to determine DNS-proxy feature support, rather than being polled directly by operators for status. Engineers can download the Juniper-DNS-CONF file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-DNS-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks E-series (ERX) router

Monitoring Examples

This module is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance statement with no sample data objects; it contains no runtime tables or counters to poll, only declarations of which object groups from the associated DNS configuration MIB are implemented on the Juniper E-series platform, so no monitoring scenario applies.
