Description: Juniper Networks conformance statements for Quality of Service (QoS) policy management on Juniper E-series edge routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Juniper-QoS-Manager-CONF?
Juniper-QoS-Manager-CONF is a Juniper Networks (originally Unisphere Networks) proprietary conformance MIB that defines AGENT-CAPABILITIES statements for the QoS Manager component of the SNMP agent running on Juniper E-series edge routers (JUNOSe). Rather than defining monitorable objects itself, it declares which object groups from the companion Juniper-QoS-MIB (such as juniQosTrafficClassListGroup, juniQosSchedulerProfileListGroup, juniQosQueueStatisticsGroup, juniQosProfileElementGroup, and juniQosDropProfileListGroup) are actually supported by a given JUNOSe software release, versioned as juniQosManagerAgentV1 through V4 corresponding to JUNOSe 4.x through 6.0+. This lets NMS tooling and MIB compilers determine, per software version, exactly which QoS traffic-class, scheduler-profile, queue-statistics, and drop-profile capabilities are implemented before attempting to poll them, avoiding failed GETs against unsupported objects. It is useful operationally as a compatibility reference when upgrading or auditing JUNOSe software versions for QoS feature support (e.g. multiple traffic-class-group support added in V4, drop-profile-list support added in V2). It depends entirely on the companion Juniper-QoS-MIB for the object groups it references and on the Juniper-Agents MIB for its registration point. It is deployed alongside the QoS Manager agent on Juniper E-series routers, and engineers validating QoS MIB support across JUNOSe releases would consult the Juniper-QoS-Manager-CONF MIB to confirm capability coverage.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-QoS-Manager-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Juniper Networks E-series edge routers running JUNOSe
Monitoring Examples
An operator upgrading a Juniper E-series router from JUNOSe 5.0 to 6.0 checks whether juniQosManagerAgentV4's INCLUDES list covers juniQosTrafficClassGroupListGroup2 before relying on multiple traffic-class-group polling; finding that capability only listed under V4 and not V3 would explain why the same poll returned no data on the older software.
What Can Be Monitored
- QoS Manager agent capability/version declarations
- supported traffic-class and traffic-class-group object groups per JUNOSe release
- supported scheduler-profile and queue-profile object groups
- supported queue-statistics and drop-profile object groups
- QoS mode/shaping mode capability support by version
