What Is Juniper-Agents?
Juniper-Agents is the top-level object identifier registry for AGENT-CAPABILITIES definitions covering Juniper Networks' E-series (JUNOSe) router platforms, organizing the capability statements for numerous functional agents such as AAA server, accounting, ATM, BGP, bridged Ethernet, and CLI management. It belongs to the service-provider routing equipment category, but as an agent-capabilities registry it describes which MIB features/groups each JUNOSe SNMP agent implements rather than exposing live managed-object data. Because AGENT-CAPABILITIES modules are conformance/documentation constructs, this module has no runtime data objects and cannot be polled to check hardware or software status such as uptime or CPU load. It is inherently dependent on the full suite of Juniper E-series functional MIBs (BGP, ATM, accounting, etc.) whose implementation conformance it documents, and administrators compiling the Juniper-Agents MIB alongside those functional MIBs gain a clear map of which JUNOSe features are supported by a given router's SNMP agent. It is used at MIB-compilation/management-station configuration time in networks running Juniper E-series routers, not for live polling.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-Agents. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Juniper Networks E-series (JUNOSe) routers
Monitoring Examples
This module defines AGENT-CAPABILITIES entries (e.g. juniBgpAgent, juniAtmAgent, juniAaaServerAgent, juniAccountingAgent, juniBridgedEthernetAgent, juniCliAgent) that document which object groups and features each Juniper E-series SNMP agent supports, rather than any runtime data objects. There is no realistic monitoring scenario for this module since it contains no pollable instance data -- a management station uses it only to determine feature/conformance support when compiling or configuring SNMP access to a JUNOSe router. Honestly, this is a conformance/capabilities registry, not a monitoring target.
