Description: Provides managed objects for DS1/T1 interface performance monitoring and configuration on Juniper Networks E-series WAN routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-DS1-MIB?

Juniper-DS1-MIB is a Juniper Networks vendor MIB that manages DS1/T1 (and E1) circuit interfaces on Juniper's enterprise E-series WAN routers, extending the functionality already defined in the standard RFC 1406 DS1/E1 MIB. It exposes configuration data for each DS1 channel — mode, time-slot mapping, line build-out type, and line electrical characteristics — layered on top of the interface's IF-MIB linkage. For hardware status monitoring, it is particularly useful for line-quality diagnostics: juniDsx1LineAttenuation and juniDsx1LineLength let an operator judge whether a circuit is marginal due to distance or cable degradation, and juniDsx1Capabilities/juniDsx1Mode confirm the interface is running in its intended framing mode. It explicitly states its dependency on the standard RFC 1406 DS1/E1 MIB, supplementing rather than replacing those objects, with juniDsx1LowerIfIndex tying each DS1 channel back to the standard IF-MIB interface table. It is typically deployed on Juniper E-series routers terminating T1/E1 leased-line or channelized circuits in enterprise WAN environments. Engineers can download the Juniper-DS1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-DS1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper Networks E-series WAN router

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll juniDsx1ConfigTable/juniDsx1ConfigEntry per juniDsx1Ds1ChannelNumber to check juniDsx1LineAttenuation and juniDsx1LineLength for signs of a degrading copper T1 line, and cross-reference juniDsx1LowerIfIndex against ifOperStatus in the standard IF-MIB to confirm the physical layer is up. A row with juniDsx1RowStatus indicating an inactive state alongside an unexpected juniDsx1LineBuildOutType would flag a provisioning mismatch on that channel.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS1/T1 channel mode and framing
  • line attenuation
  • line length
  • line build-out type
  • time slot mapping
  • channel row/provisioning status
