Description: Provides managed objects for fractional T1 WAN interface configuration and performance monitoring on Juniper Networks E-series routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Juniper-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB?
Juniper-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB is a Juniper Networks proprietary MIB module for managing fractional T1 WAN interfaces on Juniper E-series routers, where only a subset of a T1 line's 24 timeslots is provisioned for use. It exposes per-interface configuration objects covering timeslot mapping, timeslot data rate, signal polarity, and loopback settings for each fractional T1 circuit. For monitoring, it is used mainly for WAN interface configuration and operational-status verification: administrators check the assigned timeslot map and rate against the provisioned circuit to confirm bandwidth allocation is correct, and monitor loopback configuration state to rule out a stuck test loopback as the cause of a connectivity problem. It depends on the IF-MIB for the underlying physical/logical interface indexing, since juniFt1IfLowerIfIndex links a fractional T1 interface to its parent physical interface. It is typically deployed on Juniper E-series edge routers terminating fractional T1 leased-line circuits in WAN access networks. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the Juniper-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-FRACTIONAL-T1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Juniper Networks E-series routers
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll juniFt1IfTable/juniFt1IfEntry, keyed by juniFt1IfIndex, to check juniFt1IfTimeSlotMap and juniFt1IfTimeSlotRate against the circuit's provisioned bandwidth, catching a mismatch that would explain unexpectedly low throughput. juniFt1IfLoopbackConfig would be monitored to confirm no interface is stuck in a test loopback state, which would otherwise present as a total loss of end-to-end connectivity. juniFt1IfRowStatus indicates whether a fractional T1 interface entry is currently active, and juniFt1IfDataPolarity would be checked when troubleshooting bit errors caused by inverted line polarity.
What Can Be Monitored
- timeslot map/allocation
- timeslot data rate
- loopback configuration state
- line/data polarity
- interface row status
