Description: IPO-PHONES-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IPO-PHONES-MIB?

IPO-PHONES-MIB is an Avaya enterprise MIB used to inventory and describe the IP phones registered to an Avaya IP Office telephony stack. It exposes a table of phone entries covering extension identity and number, user display names, phone type/model, and the physical port and module the phone is connected to. Its main monitoring value is software/configuration status rather than deep hardware telemetry: verifying that expected phones are present, correctly mapped to extensions, and attached to the right port and module, which surfaces provisioning drift or a phone that has gone missing from the stack. It is specific to Avaya IP Office and is used alongside IPO-PROD-MIB, which defines the chassis/module/slot identity that ipoPhonesModuleNumber and ipoPhonesPort reference. Typical deployment is on small-to-midsize business phone systems built on Avaya IP Office control units and expansion modules. Engineers can download the IPO-PHONES-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IPO-PHONES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Avaya IP Office phone system
  • Avaya IP phones and expansion modules

Monitoring Examples

An administrator walks ipoPhonesTable (ipoPhonesEntry) indexed by ipoPhonesIndex to enumerate every handset, cross-referencing ipoPhonesExtNumber against ipoPhonesUserShort/ipoPhonesUserLong to confirm extension-to-user mapping is correct. Checking ipoPhonesPort, ipoPhonesPortNumber, and ipoPhonesModuleNumber together identifies which expansion module a given phone is physically wired to, useful when isolating a module-wide outage. If ipoPhonesNumber (the total phone count) drops unexpectedly, it flags a phone or module that has dropped off the stack.

What Can Be Monitored

  • total registered phone count
  • extension ID and number per phone
  • user display name
  • phone type/model
  • port and module attachment
