Description: Tracks feature supportability context and licensing entitlement for optional capabilities in Cisco UCS managed objects

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-FEATURE-MIB?

CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-FEATURE-MIB is part of the Cisco UCS management information model, tracking feature supportability context and licensing entitlement for optional capabilities across UCS managed objects. It exposes configuration/inventory data describing which optional features are defined, their descriptions, and their licensing/entitlement context for a given endpoint. Its monitoring value is software-status related: confirming whether licensed or optional features are correctly recognized and available on a given piece of UCS hardware, which helps catch licensing mismatches before they block functionality. It is dependent on the broader UCS object model, referencing endpoint and definition DNs shared across other UCS MIBs. It is deployed on Cisco UCS Manager domains where administrators need visibility into feature entitlement across blade/rack servers and fabric interconnects. Engineers can download the CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-FEATURE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-UNIFIED-COMPUTING-FEATURE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco UCS blade and rack servers
  • Cisco UCS fabric interconnects

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check cucsFeatureDefinitionTable/cucsFeatureDefinitionEntry, reading cucsFeatureDefinitionName and cucsFeatureDefinitionDescription to enumerate which optional features are defined for the UCS domain. Cross-referencing cucsFeatureContextEpTable/cucsFeatureContextEpEntry by endpoint DN reveals whether a specific feature is actually supported/entitled on a given server or interconnect. A feature expected to be licensed but missing from the context table for a given endpoint would indicate a licensing or entitlement gap.

What Can Be Monitored

  • available/defined optional features
  • feature licensing/entitlement status per endpoint
  • feature descriptions and supportability context
