Category: Alarm and Event Management, Vendor: InfoSim

Description: InfoSim StableNet network management trap MIB defining SNMP notifications for fault and event reporting.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is INFOSIM-TRAPMIB?

INFOSIM-TRAPMIB is a vendor-specific MIB from InfoSim, defining SNMP notifications used by the StableNet network management platform to report faults and events it has detected. It exposes an agent event table carrying the monitored target's name and IP address, the current event state, alarm timestamp, severity/alarm level, and a free-text alarm description. Rather than exposing raw hardware sensors, this MIB is itself part of the monitoring layer: it carries fault/event status about other devices' hardware or software health as detected and classified by StableNet's monitors, essentially forwarding alarm state upstream. It relies on standard SNMP trap/notification conventions rather than any specific hardware MIB, since it is a meta-monitoring/event-forwarding module. It is deployed as part of an InfoSim StableNet NMS installation, where INFOSIM-TRAPMIB SNMP monitoring forwards correlated fault events to upstream dashboards or trap receivers.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INFOSIM-TRAPMIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • InfoSim StableNet network management platform (software NMS)
  • not a hardware device MIB - consumed by StableNet monitoring servers

Monitoring Examples

An upstream trap receiver correlates snAgentEventTable/snAgentEventEntry by snAgentEventIndex, reading snMonitorName and snMonitorIP to identify which monitored target raised the alert. snEventState and snEventStateString together with snSeverityLevel/snAlarmLevel gauge how serious the condition is, while snAlarmTime and snAlarmDescription give the timestamp and human-readable text of a StableNet-detected fault, such as a monitor transitioning into a critical state.

What Can Be Monitored

  • monitor name and target IP
  • event/alarm state
  • alarm severity level
  • alarm timestamp
  • alarm description text
  • agent event index
