Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB for event log management, alert configuration, and notification dispatching.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is G6-EVENT-MIB?
G6-EVENT-MIB is a Microsens proprietary MIB module for the Generation 6 (G6) family of Ethernet switches, providing event log management, alert configuration, and notification dispatching. It belongs to Microsens' enterprise switch MIB tree and centers on a single event list table that catalogs configurable events by name, group, severity, and source. Its monitoring relevance is chiefly in the faults/traps category: it lets an operator see what event types are defined, how severe they are considered, and whether each is dispatched via SNMP trap, syslog, or a custom message, which is a direct window into the switch's software-level alerting/health-reporting behavior. It appears to be a self-contained proprietary module without strong dependency on external standard MIBs beyond generic SNMP trap/notification mechanisms. It is deployed on Microsens G6 Ethernet switches used in industrial or infrastructure networking environments where centralized event/alarm visibility is required. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the G6-EVENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-EVENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Microsens Generation 6 (G6) Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would walk eventListTable/eventListEntry (keyed by eventListIndex) to review eventListName, eventListGroup, and eventListSeverity for each configured event, and check eventListTrap, eventListSyslogMessage, or eventListCustomMessage to confirm how a given event (e.g., a link-down or environmental fault) is being reported. eventListRelevance and eventListInternal help distinguish which events are actively surfaced to operators versus purely internal. If a high-severity event's eventListTrap flag is disabled, that would explain why an expected alert never reached the NMS.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured event list and severity
- event source
- event relevance/internal classification
- trap dispatch per event
- syslog message per event
- custom alert message per event
