Category: Domain: SNA/Legacy, SNA and Legacy Protocols, Vendor: IBM

Description: IBM MIB for HPR (High Performance Routing) Nways Cascade Link providing SNA HPR session and path statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IBMHPRNCL-MIB?

IBMHPRNCL-MIB is an IBM proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 2) reporting HPR (High Performance Routing, an APPN extension) NCL (Network Control Layer) traffic statistics, with an optional-counter enable/disable control to reduce baseline overhead. Its global objects cover counter state, state-change time, and assigned-ANR (Automatic Network Routing) count, while a per-environment table records DLC (Data Link Control) received/sent frame and byte counts split by priority (network/high/medium/low), ANR errors, and RTP (Rapid Transport Protocol) received frame counts by priority. As a performance MIB it lets an administrator watch HPR traffic volume and ANR-error counts by priority class when diagnosing SNA/APPN network performance. It is deployed on IBM devices running HPR/APPN. Engineers can download the IBMHPRNCL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IBMHPRNCL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • IBM devices running HPR/APPN

Monitoring Examples

An administrator enables ibmHprNclGlobeCtrState and reviews ibmHprNclDlcRecvAnrErrors to diagnose HPR routing errors affecting a specific priority class of SNA traffic on an IBM device.

What Can Be Monitored
