All MIBs › ASCEND-MIBIPXRT-MIB
Category: SNA and Legacy Protocols, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent
Description: Controls IPX routing table entries and SAP service advertisement on Ascend equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASCEND-MIBIPXRT-MIB?
This is a proprietary Ascend Communications MIB for IPX routing on Ascend WAN access equipment used in legacy Novell NetWare environments. It exposes the IPX routing table and SAP (Service Advertising Protocol) service entries advertised across WAN links. It supports monitoring of software-level routing status — whether IPX routes and SAP services are correctly learned, propagated, and remain reachable across the WAN — as a proxy for the health of the underlying network connection. It parallels IETF-style routing-table conventions but is IPX-specific and has no dependency on a companion standards MIB. It was historically deployed on Ascend remote-access routers connecting branch offices or dial-up sites running Novell NetWare/IPX networks. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBIPXRT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBIPXRT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend Communications WAN access router
- legacy Novell NetWare/IPX branch router
Monitoring Examples
No concrete object names were captured for this module, but an IPX routing MIB of this kind typically exposes an IPX route table and a SAP table (an ascendIpxRt*Table/Entry pattern) listing destination network numbers, hop counts, and advertised service types. An administrator would poll the route table to confirm a remote IPX network is still reachable after a WAN link flap, with a missing or stale route entry indicating a routing or link failure.
What Can Be Monitored
- IPX route table entries
- route hop counts
- SAP service advertisements
- route reachability
