What Is EQLGROUP-MIB?

EQLGROUP-MIB is a Dell EqualLogic proprietary MIB for managing an EqualLogic iSCSI storage array group, exposing top-level group configuration, membership, and administrative status objects. It provides data on the storage group's member arrays, storage pool space allocation, and time synchronization, alongside notification definitions for group-level events. It supports monitoring hardware/software status by exposing eqlStorageGroupStatusTotalMembersOnLine (how many array members are currently online), pool space usage and reserved space in use, and snapshot/volume counts, which together reveal capacity pressure or a member array that has dropped out of the group. Administrators often browse EQLGROUP-MIB in a MIB Browser to locate the eqlStorageGroupStatusTable before scripting automated polling. It is a Dell-proprietary MIB with no stated external standards dependency, focused specifically on the EqualLogic PS-series group architecture, and it is deployed in enterprise and SMB data centers running Dell EqualLogic PS-series iSCSI SAN arrays as clustered storage groups.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EQLGROUP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • online group member count
  • storage pool space usage
  • reserved space in use
  • snapshot count in use
  • volume count in use
  • group status timestamp

Supported Devices

  • Dell EqualLogic PS-series iSCSI SAN storage arrays

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls eqlStorageGroupStatusTable/eqlStorageGroupStatusEntry to check eqlStorageGroupStatusTotalMembersOnLine against the expected member count, immediately revealing if an array member has gone offline. eqlStorageGroupStatusPoolSpace versus eqlStorageGroupStatusPoolSpaceReserved and eqlStorageGroupStatusReservedSpaceInUse shows how much of the storage pool's reserved capacity is consumed, warning of impending capacity exhaustion. eqlStorageGroupStatusSnapshotsInUse and eqlStorageGroupStatusVolumesInUse are tracked to ensure snapshot/volume counts stay within licensed or planned limits, with eqlgroupNotifications firing on group-level fault conditions.
