Description: HW group MIB for monitoring power-related environmental sensors including voltage, current, and power consumption measurements.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HWG-PWR-MIB?

HWG-PWR-MIB is an HW group proprietary MIB module for monitoring power-related environmental sensors, such as voltage, current, and power consumption meters, attached to HW group's environmental monitoring devices. It belongs to the HW group (hwgroup) enterprise MIB tree, specifically the power/environmental monitoring product line (x390/hwgpwr). Its data is squarely environmental/power hardware monitoring: a table of meters each identified by name and address, with a corresponding table of measured values, letting an administrator track real-time voltage, current, or power readings from connected sensors. This directly supports monitoring the electrical health of a rack, data center row, or equipment cabinet, flagging under/over-voltage or abnormal current draw before it causes equipment failure. It appears self-contained to HW group's proprietary sensor architecture, with no notable dependency on external standard MIBs, and it is deployed on HW group environmental monitoring units installed in server rooms, data centers, and telecom equipment cabinets, where HWG-PWR-MIB SNMP monitoring flags abnormal voltage or current draw before it causes equipment failure.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HWG-PWR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HW group environmental/power monitoring devices

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would walk mtTableMeters/mtEntry (keyed by mtIndex) to read mtName and mtAddr/mtSecAddr identifying each configured power meter, then poll mtvalTableValues/mtvalEntry for the corresponding measured value tied to mtIndex. A voltage or current reading drifting outside expected bounds for a given mtName (e.g., a UPS output meter) would signal a power-supply problem in the monitored cabinet before it causes an outage. infoAddressMAC would additionally be checked to confirm which physical monitoring unit is reporting the data.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured power meter name/address
  • measured voltage/current/power value per meter
  • number of configured meters
  • monitoring unit MAC address
