Description: Huawei tunnel MIB for managing IP tunnel interfaces, encapsulation types, tunnel source/destination, and operational statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-TUNNEL-MIB?
HUAWEI-TUNNEL-MIB manages IP tunnel interfaces on Huawei routers, covering the entities implementing tunnel protocol configuration per its module description. It exposes tunnel interface configuration such as encapsulation type and tunnel source/destination address, along with operational status and traffic statistics for each tunnel. Its monitoring value is software/connectivity health: confirming a tunnel interface remains in an operational up state and its traffic counters are actively incrementing detects a tunnel failure, such as a GRE or IPsec tunnel going down, that would otherwise silently cut off connectivity to a remote site. It extends the standards-based IP tunnel management model (RFC 2667's Tunnel MIB) with Huawei-specific detail. It is deployed on Huawei routers that use GRE, IPsec, or other tunnel encapsulations for VPN or remote-site interconnection. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-TUNNEL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-TUNNEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei routers using IP tunnel encapsulation (GRE/IPsec/etc.)
- Huawei routers (VRP-based)
Monitoring Examples
No sample object names were provided for this module. In general, an operator would poll a tunnel interface's operational status alongside its inbound/outbound packet and byte counters to confirm a GRE or IPsec tunnel remains up and actively passing traffic. A tunnel interface dropping to a down operational state, or its traffic counters flatlining while the interface still shows as up, indicates a tunnel failure that has cut connectivity to the remote site behind it.
What Can Be Monitored
- tunnel interface operational status
- tunnel encapsulation type
- tunnel source/destination address
- tunnel traffic counters (packets/bytes in and out)
