Category: DSL and Broadband, Domain: DSL, Vendor: Huawei

Description: Huawei VDSL (Very High Speed DSL) MIB for managing VDSL line parameters, profiles, performance, and alarm monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-VDSL-MIB?

HUAWEI-VDSL-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary SNMP module in Huawei's broadband access product family, covering VDSL (Very-High-Bit-Rate Digital Subscriber Line) copper access technology used on DSLAMs and multi-service access nodes. It exposes VDSL line profiles, per-port operational configuration, transmission performance counters, and alarm/notification definitions for the physical DSL line layer. Network operators rely on it to monitor the hardware health of VDSL line cards and ports, tracking line synchronization state, signal attenuation, noise margin, and error-second counts that reveal a degrading copper pair or failing line-card interface before a subscriber loses service. It works alongside Huawei's common xDSL conventions (and conceptually parallels the IETF VDSL2-LINE-MIB) for line-layer performance data. It is typically deployed in carrier broadband access networks, where HUAWEI-VDSL-MIB SNMP monitoring lets an EMS/NMS poll Huawei DSLAM chassis to proactively catch line-quality degradation.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-VDSL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei DSLAM
  • Huawei broadband access node

Monitoring Examples

No object or table names were supplied for this module in the source set, so a specific object-level polling example cannot be grounded in real names; based on the module's description, an operator would typically poll per-line VDSL profile and performance tables (following the naming pattern of Huawei's other xDSL MIBs) to compare configured versus actual line rate and flag lines whose error-second counts exceed threshold.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VDSL line synchronization state
  • line attenuation and noise margin
  • line rate (upstream/downstream)
  • error-second counts
  • line alarm/fault status
  • line profile configuration
