What Is HUAWEI-MSTP-MIB?

HUAWEI-MSTP-MIB is a Huawei private enterprise MIB for managing the Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP, IEEE 802.1s) implementation on Huawei bridges and switches. It exposes configuration and status data about MST regions, MST instances (mapping VLANs to spanning-tree instances), and the role and state of each bridge port within those instances. While primarily a Layer 2 topology-configuration MIB, it supports monitoring the software status of the spanning-tree protocol itself, such as whether a port is forwarding, blocking, or in an alternate/backup role, which is important for detecting loops or unexpected topology changes.
