Description: Huawei MAC Forced Forwarding (MFF) MIB for subscriber isolation and gateway MAC enforcement on access networks.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-MFF-MIB?
HUAWEI-MFF-MIB manages Huawei's MAC Forced Forwarding (MFF) feature, a Layer 2 security mechanism used on broadband access networks (e.g., DSLAM/OLT edge devices) to isolate subscribers on the same VLAN from communicating directly with each other, forcing all traffic through a gateway. It exposes configuration data covering global MFF settings, per-VLAN MFF configuration, network-port designation, server IP address configuration, and learned user/gateway binding information. This is primarily a configuration and software-feature-status MIB rather than a hardware-health MIB: an operator uses it to verify that MFF is correctly enabled, that the designated network port and DHCP/ARP server addresses are correct, and that subscriber-to-gateway bindings have been learned as expected. It has no strong dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMP conventions and Huawei's private enterprise MIB tree. It is typically deployed on Huawei broadband access switches/OLTs in metro Ethernet or FTTx access networks serving residential or business subscribers. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-MFF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-MFF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei broadband access switches
- OLTs / DSLAMs
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would check hwMffVlanCfgTable to confirm MFF is enabled on subscriber-facing VLANs and hwMffNetworkPortTable to verify which uplink port is designated as the trusted network side. Polling hwMffUserGatewayTable reveals the learned bindings between subscriber MAC/IP and their gateway; an empty or stale table for an active VLAN would indicate subscribers cannot reach the gateway, pointing to a binding or ARP-forwarding failure. hwMffServerCfgTable would be checked to confirm the DHCP/authentication server IP configured for that VLAN is correct.
What Can Be Monitored
- MFF enable/disable status per VLAN
- designated network port configuration
- server IP configuration
- subscriber-to-gateway MAC/IP bindings
