What Is HUAWEI-IPMCAST-MIB?
HUAWEI-IPMCAST-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB for managing IP multicast routing and forwarding on Huawei Layer 3 switches and routers, covering protocols such as PIM and IGMP referenced in its description. It exposes global multicast enable/disable state, multicast routing table size, and a per-interface table of multicast statistics and configuration. The MIB is squarely focused on operational/performance monitoring: it tracks per-interface multicast packet and octet counters (in/out), TTL and rate-limit settings, and the size of the multicast route table, letting an operator gauge multicast traffic volume and whether route-table growth is approaching capacity. It depends conceptually on standard IP multicast/PIM/IGMP concepts and complements the standard IETF IP-MIB and PIM-MIB rather than replacing them. It is deployed on Huawei carrier and enterprise routing/switching platforms delivering IPTV, video conferencing, or other multicast-distributed content where administrators need to monitor multicast traffic health per interface. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-IPMCAST-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

Monitoring Examples
An admin can poll hwIpMcastInterfaceTable/hwIpMcastInterfaceEntry (indexed by hwIpMcastInterfaceIfIndex and hwIpMcastInterfaceIpVersion) to read hwIpMcastInterfaceInMcastPkts and hwIpMcastInterfaceOutMcastOctets, spotting an interface whose multicast traffic has unexpectedly dropped to zero. Checking hwIpMcastRouteEntryCount against a configured maximum reveals multicast routing table pressure, while hwIpMcastInterfaceRateLimit shows whether rate-limiting is suppressing multicast forwarding on a given link.
