Description: Huawei inner link MIB providing management objects for internal high-speed links between line cards and switch fabric within Huawei chassis.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-INNER-LINK-MIB?

HUAWEI-INNER-LINK-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary MIB providing, per its module description, 'general information of inner links between frames in cluster system' -- i.e. it manages the internal high-speed interconnect links between line-card frames/chassis and the switch fabric within a clustered or multi-chassis Huawei system. It exposes hardware status objects for these internal links, such as link up/down state and possibly utilization or error counters on the inter-frame interconnect. Its monitoring value is squarely hardware fault/status monitoring of critical internal fabric connectivity: a failed or degraded inner link can silently reduce a clustered system's switching capacity or isolate a frame, so tracking link state here is important for early detection of fabric-level hardware problems. It is tied to Huawei's cluster/multi-chassis system architecture and is not meaningful outside that context. It is deployed on Huawei high-end clustered routers/switches composed of multiple frames connected via internal fabric links, and administrators can download the HUAWEI-INNER-LINK-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser for fabric-link monitoring.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-INNER-LINK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei multi-chassis cluster routers (e.g. NE5000E series)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll an inner-link status table (patterned as hwInnerLinkTable, though not confirmed from source) to check the up/down state of each internal fabric link between frames, with a link reported down indicating reduced fabric redundancy or an isolated frame in the cluster that needs urgent hardware attention. No sample_objects were provided for this module, so specific object names are inferred rather than confirmed from source.

What Can Be Monitored

  • inner (inter-frame) link up/down status
  • fabric link error/utilization counters
  • cluster frame connectivity
