Description: Huawei InfoCenter MIB for managing the centralized log and information output system including log levels, output channels, and syslog server configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-INFOCENTER-MIB?
HUAWEI-INFOCENTER-MIB manages Huawei's InfoCenter subsystem, the centralized logging and information-output framework used across Huawei routers and switches to control log severity levels, output channels, and remote syslog server configuration. It exposes configuration objects for defining log channels and severity filters as well as status objects reporting on the logging subsystem itself, such as log buffer conditions. Its monitoring value is squarely about software/system health: it lets administrators detect when the device's internal log buffer has lost messages, a strong indicator that the device is generating log events faster than they can be processed or exported, often correlating with a broader system stress condition. It complements the general syslog concept but is implemented as a Huawei-private module governing the device's own InfoCenter log pipeline. It is deployed on all Huawei routers and switches that forward logs to centralized syslog servers or NMS log-collection systems. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HUAWEI-INFOCENTER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-INFOCENTER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei routers
- Huawei switches
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the InfoCenter log-buffer-loss object (hwICLogBufferLose, per the module's changelog) to detect whether log messages have been dropped due to buffer exhaustion, which would indicate excessive log-event volume or a slow/unreachable syslog destination. They would also check output-channel and severity-level configuration objects to confirm logs of the desired severity are actually being forwarded to the configured syslog server. A nonzero or rising log-buffer-loss count during a troubleshooting window means some diagnostic log messages were silently dropped and the underlying event history is incomplete.
What Can Be Monitored
- log buffer loss/overflow count
- log severity level configuration
- log output channel configuration
- syslog server configuration status
