Category: Domain: DSL, Vendor: Huawei

Description: Huawei ANCP (Access Node Control Protocol) MIB for managing communication between the access node and the NAS in broadband networks.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-ANCP-AN-MIB?

HUAWEI-ANCP-AN-MIB is registered under Huawei's enterprise MIB tree (huaweiMgmt.106) but its MODULE-IDENTITY names the IETF ANCP Working Group as the originating organization, indicating it implements the access-node (AN) side of the standards-track Access Node Control Protocol (ANCP, based on GSMP) used between DSL access nodes (DSLAMs) and a Network Access Server (NAS/BRAS) in broadband networks. Its ancpAnSessionConfigTable, indexed by ancpAnSessionConfigSessionId, configures each ANCP session's GSMP version, encapsulation (currently tcp only), timers (AliveTimer, PortReportShaper, AggregateReportShaper, TransportRetryTimer, AncpRetryTimer), NAS IP address/port (default 6068), and VLAN association (Svid/SPrio/Cvid/CPrio); the companion ancpAnCurrentSessionTable reports live session state (ancpAnCurrentSessionState: null/synsent/synrcvd/estab) plus sent/received/discarded message counters. A session stuck out of the estab state, or a rising ancpAnCurrentSessionStatDiscardedMessages count, points to an ANCP adjacency or transport problem that can prevent the NAS from receiving per-subscriber-line topology and event information, and administrators can download the HUAWEI-ANCP-AN-MIB file for use with a MIB browser when managing Huawei broadband access nodes running ANCP.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-ANCP-AN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei DSL access node (DSLAM) platforms implementing the access-node side of ANCP

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls ancpAnCurrentSessionState for a configured session and finds it cycling between synsent and null instead of reaching estab; combined with a nonzero ancpAnCurrentSessionStatDiscardedMessages count, this would indicate a persistent ANCP adjacency failure between the access node and its NAS, likely due to a transport or GSMP version mismatch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ANCP session configuration (timers, encapsulation, NAS address)
  • ANCP session operational state (null/synsent/synrcvd/estab)
  • sent/received/discarded ANCP message counters
  • session uptime and counter discontinuity time
  • per-interface partition assignment
  • session up/down notifications
