Description: Huawei syslog MIB for managing local logging configuration, log server destinations, severity filters, and log buffer settings.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-SYSLOG-MIB?
HUAWEI-SYSLOG-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Huawei Technologies that manages the local system-log (syslog) subsystem, sitting under the huaweiUtility enterprise subtree. It exposes a global admin-status bitmask (syslogEnableAdminStatus) for enabling logging per board, a syslogServerTable (indexed by syslogServerIpAddress) mapping each configured syslog server to a named policy group via syslogPolicyGroupNameSelect and a RowStatus for add/delete, a syslogPolicyGroupTable grouping named policies, and a syslogPolicyConfigTable that defines per-policy filters — syslogUserType (portal, ppp, dot1x, wlan, etc.), syslogPolicyBoard (a BITS field selecting which of up to 18 boards the policy applies to), syslogPolicyIsp, and syslogPolicyType (all, user-operation, or call syslog). A MODULE-COMPLIANCE statement ties these into mandatory object groups (hwSyslogAdminStatusObjectGroup, hwSyslogServerObjectGroup, hwSyslogPolicyGroupObjectGroup, hwSyslogPolicyConfigObjectGroup). It depends on HUAWEI-MIB for its OID anchor and standard SNMPv2-SMI/SNMPv2-TC textual conventions for RowStatus. It is deployed on Huawei network access and broadband devices where centralized log-server routing and filtering by user type is needed, and administrators can download the HUAWEI-SYSLOG-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-SYSLOG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei network access/broadband devices
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls syslogServerTable to confirm syslogServerRowStatus is active(1) for each configured server IP, then checks syslogPolicyConfigTable to verify syslogPolicyBoard and syslogUserType match the intended filter; a server entry stuck in notInService or a policy row missing its expected board bits would explain why certain log messages aren't reaching the log-server destination.
What Can Be Monitored
- syslog admin-enable status per board
- syslog server table (address, policy group, row status)
- syslog policy group table
- per-policy user-type/board/ISP filter configuration
- syslog policy row status (add/delete lifecycle)
