Description: HUAWEI-ADSL2-LINE-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-ADSL2-LINE-MIB?

HUAWEI-ADSL2-LINE-MIB is Huawei's implementation of the standards-based ADSL2/ADSL2+ line management MIB, built on the IETF specification (extending RFC 2662 concepts) for managing Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line interfaces per the ITU-T G.992.1/G.992.2 and related ADSL2 standards. Although no sample objects were provided, a MIB of this type would characteristically expose per-line configuration and performance data such as line rate, noise margin, attenuation, training/link state, and Embedded Operations Channel (EOC) parameters for each DSL port. Its primary use is monitoring the physical/software line status of DSL interfaces -- line up/down state, sync rate, signal-to-noise margin, and error counters -- which are the standard indicators of DSL circuit health used by carriers to detect degraded or failed subscriber lines. It is explicitly dependent on the IETF ADSL/ADSL2 MIB framework (RFC 2662 and successors) which it extends for ADSL2/ADSL2+ line types. It is typically deployed on Huawei DSLAM/MSAN access equipment used by broadband service providers to manage last-mile ADSL2/ADSL2+ subscriber circuits. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-ADSL2-LINE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-ADSL2-LINE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei DSLAM/MSAN broadband access equipment
  • vendor implementation of a standards-based (IETF) ADSL2/ADSL2+ line MIB

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were supplied for this MIB, so specific object or table names cannot be cited; based on its stated ADSL2/ADSL2+ line-management purpose, a realistic (but unconfirmed) monitoring scenario would involve polling per-line rate, noise margin, and link-state objects on a DSLAM port to detect a subscriber line that has dropped sync or shows rising error rates, but this cannot be grounded in the provided sample data.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DSL line up/down/link state
  • line sync rate
  • signal-to-noise margin
  • line attenuation
  • EOC channel parameters
