What Is HPN-ICF-SPB-MIB?
HPN-ICF-SPB-MIB is an HP Networking (Comware/ICF, now HPE) enterprise MIB for managing Shortest Path Bridging (SPB, IEEE 802.1aq) using IS-IS as its control protocol. It exposes configuration and state data for SPB-enabled interfaces and service instances, including per-interface SPB status, backbone VLAN (B-VLAN) multicast status, and service table entries mapping I-SID to base VLAN and mode. Its monitoring focus is on protocol/software status: an operator can check hpnicfSpbSysStatus and hpnicfSpbIfStatus to see whether SPB is globally and per-interface operational, inspect hpnicfSpbSrvTable entries to confirm service instance (I-SID) bindings are correctly provisioned, and watch hpnicfSpbConflictSysID for SPB system ID conflicts that would disrupt topology formation. It explicitly builds on the IEEE 802.1aq SPB standard and IS-IS routing concepts referenced in its module description. It is typically deployed on HP/HPE Comware switches in data center or campus fabrics using SPB for loop-free, multipath Ethernet forwarding. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-SPB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-SPB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP/HPE Comware (ICF) SPB-capable data center and campus switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll hpnicfSpbIfTable (hpnicfSpbIfEntry) for hpnicfSpbIfStatus per interface to confirm SPB is enabled and forming adjacencies, and check hpnicfSpbMulticastBVlanStatus to verify the backbone VLAN used for multicast is operational. Walking hpnicfSpbSrvTable (hpnicfSpbSrvEntry) reveals each service's hpnicfSpbSrvTableEntryIsid, hpnicfSpbSrvTableEntryBaseVid, and hpnicfSpbSrvTableEntryMode, and a non-zero hpnicfSpbConflictSysID would indicate two switches in the SPB topology sharing a system ID and breaking path computation.
What Can Be Monitored
- SPB global system status
- per-interface SPB status
- backbone VLAN multicast status
- service instance (I-SID) to VLAN mapping
- SPB system ID conflicts
