Category: Frame Relay, Technology: QoS, Vendor: H3C/HH3C, Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Manages QoS policy application on Frame Relay interfaces and PVCs on HP/Comware WAN devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-FR-QOS-MIB?

HPN-ICF-FR-QOS-MIB is an HP/Comware ICF MIB that manages and monitors class-based Quality of Service (QoS) applied to Frame Relay interfaces and permanent virtual circuits (PVCs). Per its own internal documentation it consists of tables for Frame Relay class configuration (hpnicfFrClassCfgInfoTable), Committed Information Rate configuration (hpnicfCirCfgInfoTable), and interface-level QoS application (hpnicfIfApply). Its role is configuration/performance monitoring rather than hardware health: administrators use it to confirm which QoS class and CIR settings are actually applied to each Frame Relay interface/PVC and to detect misapplied or missing QoS policy that could cause congestion or SLA violations on WAN links. It builds on the general concept of class-based QoS shared with other HP Comware QoS MIBs but is specific to the Frame Relay data-link context. It is deployed on HP/H3C Comware routers terminating legacy Frame Relay WAN circuits. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-FR-QOS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-FR-QOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/H3C Comware router with Frame Relay WAN interfaces

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hpnicfFrClassCfgInfoTable to confirm which traffic class definitions exist, then check hpnicfCirCfgInfoTable to verify the committed information rate configured for each class matches the provisioned circuit rate. hpnicfIfApply would be checked to confirm a given Frame Relay interface actually has the intended QoS class applied -- a PVC missing an expected entry here would explain unexpected packet loss or congestion despite correct class definitions existing elsewhere.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Frame Relay QoS class configuration
  • committed information rate (CIR) settings
  • per-interface QoS policy application
  • PVC-level QoS state
