Description: Manages MPLS OAM protection switching (PS) groups and failover policies for LSP redundancy on HP/Comware devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HPN-ICF-MPLSOAM-PS-MIB?
HPN-ICF-MPLSOAM-PS-MIB is an HP/H3C Comware vendor-specific MIB (under the hpnicfCommon enterprise subtree) that configures and monitors MPLS Protection Switching (PS) groups, which pair a working static LSP with a protection static LSP for fast LSP-level redundancy on MPLS label-switching routers. Its central hpnicfMplsPsTable, indexed by hpnicfMplsPsIndex, holds per-group configuration such as hpnicfMplsPsWorkLspName/hpnicfMplsPsProtectLspName, hpnicfMplsPsRevertiveMode and hpnicfMplsPsWTR (wait-to-restore timer), hpnicfMplsPsHoldOff, and an externally settable hpnicfMplsPsSwitchCondition (clear, lockout, forced/manual switch, and timer-driven states), plus read-only state objects (hpnicfMplsPsWorkLspDetectState/UpDownState, hpnicfMplsPsProtLspDetectState/UpDownState, hpnicfMplsPsSwitchResult) and a row-lifecycle hpnicfMplsPsRowStatus. Two notifications, hpnicfMplsPsSwitchPtoW and hpnicfMplsPsSwitchWtoP, report protection-to-working and working-to-protection switchovers along with the LSP names and switch result, and a global hpnicfMplsOamPsTrapOpen scalar enables/disables this trap generation. It depends on the underlying MPLS/LSR static-LSP configuration for the working and protection paths it protects, and is deployed on MPLS-capable HP/H3C routers acting as protection-switching endpoints. Network engineers consult the HPN-ICF-MPLSOAM-PS-MIB MIB when configuring or troubleshooting LSP failover behavior on these platforms.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-MPLSOAM-PS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP/H3C Comware MPLS-capable routers (ICF platform)
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls hpnicfMplsPsSwitchResult on hpnicfMplsPsTable to see whether traffic is riding the working(1) or protection(2) static-lsp, and an unexpected switchover accompanied by hpnicfMplsPsWorkLspDetectState showing a defect condition would indicate the working LSP has failed and protection switching engaged.
What Can Be Monitored
- working/protection LSP names and status
- revertive mode and WTR/hold-off timers
- switch condition and switch result
- working/protection LSP detect and up/down state
- row status of protection groups
- protection switchover notifications
