Description: H3C MIB for Edge Virtual Bridging (EVB) managing virtual switch interfaces between servers and network switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-EVB-MIB?

H3C-EVB-MIB is an H3C (formerly 3Com/HPE) enterprise MIB for managing Edge Virtual Bridging (EVB), a technology that lets a server's virtual switch coordinate VLAN and port configuration with an upstream physical switch. It exposes configuration-oriented objects such as EVB manager identity/type, default-manager tables, and per-port EVB settings including Flex-10 port objects. Its monitoring value is chiefly software/feature status: whether EVB negotiation between server and switch succeeded (h3cEvbSetResult), which device is the EVB manager, and the row status of each managed port. It is explicitly an extension of the standard IEEE8021-EVB-MIB, so it depends on and supplements that standards-based MIB. It is deployed on H3C data-center switches in virtualized server environments where VM traffic must be tagged and bridged consistently between hypervisor virtual switches and the physical fabric. Engineers can download the H3C-EVB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-EVB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/HPE Comware data-center switches
  • servers/hypervisors with EVB-capable virtual switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll h3cEvbDefaultManagerTable (h3cEvbManagerIndex, h3cEvbManagerType, h3cEvbManagerID, h3cEvbManagerPort) to confirm which device is the designated EVB manager and that h3cEvbManagerRowStatus shows an active entry. Checking h3cEvbPortConfigTable (h3cEvbPortNumber) per h3cEvbPortConfigEntry reveals whether a given switch port has EVB enabled toward a hypervisor. A failed h3cEvbSetResult would indicate an EVB negotiation failure between the switch and a connected virtual switch, prompting a check of cabling or configuration mismatch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • EVB manager assignment
  • EVB negotiation result
  • per-port EVB configuration status
  • port row status
  • Flex-10 port settings
