Description: Manages MPLS BGP-based L3VPN routing instances, VRFs, and PE-CE routing policies on HP/Comware devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-MPLS-BGP-VPN-MIB?

HPN-ICF-MPLS-BGP-VPN-MIB is an HP/H3C Comware proprietary MIB implementing the IETF's MPLS/BGP VPN architecture (RFC 4364-family) on HP/H3C routers. It exposes counts of configured and active VRFs (Virtual Routing and Forwarding instances) alongside a per-interface configuration table recording the label-edge type (PE-facing vs. CE-facing), VPN classification, and the interface's IP address/mask within that VRF. As a configuration/protocol-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm how many VRFs are active versus configured and audit a specific interface's VPN/label-edge role. It is deployed on HP/H3C Comware routers providing MPLS/BGP VPN (L3VPN) services. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-MPLS-BGP-VPN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-MPLS-BGP-VPN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/H3C Comware routers (MPLS/BGP L3VPN)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks hpnicfmplsVpnActiveVrfs against hpnicfmplsVpnConfiguredVrfs to confirm all provisioned VRFs are actually active before troubleshooting a customer VPN reporting missing routes.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active vs. configured VRF count
  • per-interface VPN/label-edge role
