Description: HP Networking ICF SNMP MIB for 802.11 wireless QoS (WMM/WME) configuration and traffic priority on HP WLAN networking devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-DOT11-QOS-MIB?

HPN-ICF-DOT11-QOS-MIB is an HP Networking (H3C-derived ICF platform) MIB for configuring 802.11 wireless QoS using the WMM/WME standard, which prioritizes voice and video traffic on wireless LANs. It defines per-radio WMM enablement and EDCA (Enhanced Distributed Channel Access) tuning tables that control channel contention parameters like AIFSN per access category, plus admission control (CAC) policy and channel utilization thresholds. Its monitoring value is largely software/configuration status: administrators check whether WMM is enabled on a radio, review EDCA parameters governing traffic prioritization, and monitor CAC channel utilization and user count to see if a radio is approaching capacity limits for admitted voice/video calls. It builds on the IEEE 802.11 WMM/EDCA standard and complements HP's broader ICF dot11 MIB family for radio and AP management. It is deployed on HP/H3C enterprise WLAN access points and controllers carrying latency-sensitive voice and video traffic, and the HPN-ICF-DOT11-QOS-MIB MIB is the reference used to confirm WMM prioritization stays correctly configured across the wireless fleet.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-DOT11-QOS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP Networking (H3C ICF-based) wireless access point/controller

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hpnicfDot11RadioWmmEnabled in the hpnicfDot11RadioWmmCfgTable to confirm WMM prioritization is active on a given radio, then check hpnicfDot11RadioWmmEdcaCfgTable entries such as hpnicfDot11RadioWmmAifsn per hpnicfDot11RadioWmmAC to verify EDCA contention parameters match the intended voice/video priority scheme. Watching hpnicfDot11RadioCacChlUtlValue and hpnicfDot11RadioCacUserNum reveals whether a radio's channel utilization and admitted call/user count are approaching the configured CAC policy threshold, which would explain new call admission being rejected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • WMM enablement per radio
  • EDCA priority parameters per access category
  • call admission control (CAC) policy state
  • channel utilization value
  • admitted user/call count
