What Is HPN-ICF-DOT11-REF-MIB?
HPN-ICF-DOT11-REF-MIB is an HP Networking (ICF—Intelligent Configuration Framework) MIB defining common 802.11 wireless textual conventions and reference objects reused across HP's broader family of WLAN-related MIB modules. It exposes access-point and radio element inventory data—AP identity, template name, serial ID, and model alias—along with per-radio attributes like radio number, policy, and index. Its monitoring relevance is centered on wireless hardware inventory and identity: hpnicfDot11APElementSerialID and hpnicfDot11APElementModelAlias let an operator confirm exactly which physical AP hardware and radio modules are deployed and how they're configured, functioning as a foundation rather than deep runtime statistics. Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll hpnicfDot11APElementTable/hpnicfDot11APElementEntry, indexed by hpnicfDot11APElementIndex, to confirm the hpnicfDot11APElementSerialID and hpnicfDot11APElementModelAlias of each deployed access point match inventory records. The hpnicfDot11RadioElementTable/hpnicfDot11RadioElementEntry rows would be checked for hpnicfDot11RadioElementRadioPolicy and hpnicfDot11RadioElementRadioNum to verify each AP's radios are configured with the expected policy (e.g., 802.11a vs. 802.11g). Because this is a reference/textual-convention MIB, actual runtime performance counters (signal strength, client counts) would be found in other HPN dot11 MIBs that build on these definitions.
