Description: HP ICF SNMP MIB for IP SLA probe configuration and performance measurement results on HP ProCurve network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPICF-IPSLA-MIB?

HPICF-IPSLA-MIB is an HP (ICF, Internet Common Firmware) proprietary MIB for configuring and monitoring IP Service Level Agreement (SLA) probes on HP ProCurve/Aruba-branded managed network devices. It exposes probe configuration such as probe type, administrative state, source/destination address and port, and source interface, used to actively measure network performance (e.g., latency, jitter, packet loss) between devices. For hardware/software status monitoring it primarily reflects operational software state — hpicfIpSlaAdminState shows whether a given probe is enabled — and its associated (though not sampled here) result objects would carry the actual performance metrics collected by each probe. It builds on the same conceptual model as Cisco's IP SLA and the IETF's disman-ping-mib work, though as an HP proprietary MIB it is independent of those standards. It is deployed in enterprise networks where HP switches/routers run active performance probes to verify SLA compliance between sites. Engineers can download the HPICF-IPSLA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPICF-IPSLA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP ProCurve/networking managed switch or router

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would configure hpicfIpSlaTable/hpicfIpSlaEntry with hpicfIpSlaType, hpicfIpSlaSourceAddress/hpicfIpSlaSourceInterface, and hpicfIpSlaDestAddress/hpicfIpSlaL4DestPort to set up a probe from one site to another, then poll hpicfIpSlaAdminState to confirm the probe is active. hpicfIpSlaNotifications would alert if a probe transitions state unexpectedly, such as failing to reach its destination, which would indicate a path outage or SLA breach between the source and destination addressed in the table.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP SLA probe admin state
  • probe type
  • source/destination address and port
  • source interface
  • SLA notification events
