What Is HPN-ICF-ATM-DXI-MIB?

HPN-ICF-ATM-DXI-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from HP Networking (ICF platform) that manages ATM DXI (Data Exchange Interface) configuration on HP router/switch WAN interfaces, covering the DTE-to-DSU/CSU interworking used to carry ATM cells over a serial DXI link. It exposes hpnicfAtmDxiConfMode (the ATM-DXI mode in use: mode1a, mode1b, or mode2) and two tables: hpnicfAtmDxiPvcTable, which defines PVCs by VPI/VCI with encapsulation type (SNAP, NLPID, or MUX) and row lifecycle status, and hpnicfAtmDxiMapTable, which maps peer IP addresses to specific PVCs with InARP timer and broadcast-forwarding settings. As a configuration-oriented MIB it is used less for traffic counters and more to confirm that PVC and address-mapping definitions match the intended WAN topology and that rows are active. It depends on HPN-ICF-OID-MIB for its enterprise OID placement and IF-MIB/INET-ADDRESS-MIB for interface and peer-address types, and is deployed on HP ICF-based routers terminating ATM-DXI WAN circuits. Engineers troubleshooting legacy ATM-DXI WAN links use the HPN-ICF-ATM-DXI-MIB MIB to confirm PVC and IP-to-PVC map configuration on the affected interface.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-ATM-DXI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP Networking (ICF-based) routers and switches with ATM-DXI WAN interfaces

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls hpnicfAtmDxiPvcTable (indexed by ifIndex, VPI, VCI) to confirm hpnicfAtmDxiPvcRowStatus is active and hpnicfAtmDxiPvcEncType matches the remote end's encapsulation, then checks hpnicfAtmDxiMapTable for the expected peer IP-to-PVC mapping; a PVC entry stuck in a non-active row status would indicate a misconfigured or torn-down ATM-DXI circuit blocking traffic to that peer.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM-DXI operating mode
  • PVC VPI/VCI, encapsulation type, and row status
  • PVC map count per interface
  • peer IP-to-PVC address mapping table entries
  • InARP timer and broadcast-forwarding settings
