Description: HP ServerNet (Foundry-heritage) SNMP MIB for IGMP multicast group membership management on HP SN routing switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HP-SN-IGMP-MIB?

HP-SN-IGMP-MIB is an HP ServerNet (Foundry Networks-heritage 'SN' line) MIB for managing IGMP multicast group membership on HP SN-series routing switches. It exposes global IGMP timers (query interval, group membership time) and a per-interface table recording the multicast group address learned on each port, its age, and the port number, giving a live view of IGMP snooping/multicast group state. Its monitoring value is centered on multicast software/protocol status - confirming which multicast groups are active on which ports and whether membership timers are behaving as expected - rather than hardware sensors. It implements IGMP (RFC 2236 and related) concepts as a vendor enterprise MIB rather than depending on a specific standard IGMP MIB, though it parallels the IETF IGMP MIB's general approach. It is typically deployed on HP SN-series (Foundry-heritage) routing switches in networks running IP multicast applications such as video distribution. Engineers can download the HP-SN-IGMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-SN-IGMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP SN-series (Foundry-heritage) routing switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator would check snIgmpQueryInterval and snIgmpGroupMembershipTime for the configured IGMP timers, then walk snIgmpIfTable/snIgmpIfEntry via snIgmpIfPortNumber to see snIgmpIfGroupAddress and snIgmpIfGroupAge for each learned multicast group. If a group's snIgmpIfGroupAge approaches snIgmpGroupMembershipTime without a refresh, that signals the group membership is about to time out, potentially interrupting a multicast stream to that port. This lets multicast administrators confirm receivers are actively refreshing their group memberships.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IGMP query interval
  • group membership timeout
  • learned multicast group address per port
  • group membership age
  • IGMP-enabled port number
