Description: HP ICF SNMP MIB for RIP (Routing Information Protocol) configuration and route table management on HP ProCurve Layer 3 switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HP-ICF-RIP?
HP-ICF-RIP contains Hewlett-Packard's proprietary extensions to the standard RIP MIB, providing additional configuration and status objects for the Routing Information Protocol on HP ProCurve Layer 3 switches. It covers RIP interface configuration (version, timers, redistribution) and route-table/neighbor status rather than hardware sensors. Its monitoring value is protocol/software health — confirming RIP is advertising and receiving routes correctly on expected interfaces, and detecting route flapping or a RIP process that has stopped updating its table. It explicitly extends the standard RFC 1724 RIP-2 MIB, adding HP-specific objects on top of that base model. It is used in smaller enterprise or legacy networks where HP switches still run RIP as an interior routing protocol. Engineers can download the HP-ICF-RIP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ICF-RIP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP ProCurve Layer 3 switch/router
Monitoring Examples
No concrete object names were present in the sampled source beyond the module description, so specifics cannot be confirmed from this MIB alone. In practice such extensions would be polled together with the base RIP-2 MIB's interface and route tables to confirm a switch's RIP process is still exchanging routes and its routing table entries are current rather than stale.
What Can Be Monitored
- RIP interface configuration
- RIP route table status
- RIP timers/redistribution settings
