Description: HP ICF SNMP MIB for Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) routing configuration and neighbor state on HP ProCurve switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HP-ICF-PIM?

HP-ICF-PIM is an HP-proprietary (ICF) SNMP module providing extensions to the standard PIM (Protocol Independent Multicast) MIB defined in RFC 2934, adding HP-specific management objects for PIM routing configuration and neighbor state on HP ProCurve switches. No concrete sample objects were supplied, so exact table names cannot be confirmed, but given its stated purpose it would expose PIM interface configuration and neighbor adjacency status. Its monitoring relevance is in confirming multicast routing protocol health, i.e., whether PIM neighbors are established on a given interface and whether multicast forwarding state is being built correctly, which is software/protocol status rather than hardware condition. It explicitly extends the standard PIM MIB (RFC 2934), so it should be read alongside that base MIB for full coverage. It is deployed on HP ProCurve Layer 3 switches that participate in multicast routing within enterprise or campus networks. Engineers can download the HP-ICF-PIM file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ICF-PIM. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP ProCurve Layer 3 switches

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module, so a specific scenario cannot cite real object names; in general, an operator would use this MIB's HP-specific extensions alongside the standard PIM MIB to check PIM neighbor state on a switch interface and confirm multicast routing adjacencies are established rather than stuck in an initializing state.

What Can Be Monitored

  • PIM interface configuration
  • PIM neighbor adjacency state
