Description: HP ICF SNMP MIB for NTP client configuration and synchronization status on HP ProCurve switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HP-ICF-NTP-MIB?
HP-ICF-NTP-MIB is a Hewlett-Packard proprietary SNMP module in the HP ICF (Integrated Communication Facility) family for managing the Network Time Protocol client on ProCurve/Aruba switches and routers. It exposes configuration data such as NTP server addresses and polling parameters, alongside status objects reflecting whether the device's clock is currently synchronized. This makes it a useful software-status check: an out-of-sync NTP client can cause log timestamps, certificate validation, and scheduled-job timing to drift, so operators watch this MIB's sync-state objects as a health indicator for the device's software clock rather than its hardware. It is a proprietary counterpart to (not a formal extension of) the IETF's approach to time synchronization, existing independently of any common NTP MIB standard. It is deployed wherever HP ProCurve/Aruba switches need accurate, synchronized time for logging, authentication, and scheduled operations across a managed network. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the HP-ICF-NTP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HP-ICF-NTP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP ProCurve managed switch
- HP Aruba switch/router
Monitoring Examples
No specific object names were present in the sampled source, so the following is inferred from its stated purpose rather than confirmed identifiers. Typically such a module would provide an NTP server address/table, a polling-interval scalar, and a synchronization-status scalar; an administrator would poll the sync-status object to detect when a switch has silently fallen out of time sync with its configured NTP servers, which can cascade into authentication and logging problems.
What Can Be Monitored
- NTP synchronization status
- configured NTP server address
- polling interval
- client clock state
