Description: Describes relationships between physical and logical entities in HP/Comware chassis-based systems.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HPN-ICF-ENTRELATION-MIB?
HPN-ICF-ENTRELATION-MIB is an HP Networking/Comware vendor MIB that describes structural relationships between physical and logical entities in chassis-based systems, such as stack port pairing and combo port pairing, that don't fit naturally into the standard ENTITY-MIB physical containment model. Its data is inherently configuration/topology-oriented rather than telemetry-oriented, describing how entities like stack ports or combo (shared) ports relate to one another on modular or stackable hardware. In terms of hardware status monitoring, this MIB helps an operator understand hardware topology context (e.g., which physical port pairs share resources) so that faults reported elsewhere (interface down, stack member failure) can be correctly attributed to the right physical component. It is explicitly designed as a companion to the standard ENTITY-MIB, extending it with relation types that ENTITY-MIB cannot express. It is deployed on HP/H3C Comware stackable or chassis-based switches and routers where entity relationships beyond simple physical containment must be tracked, making HPN-ICF-ENTRELATION-MIB SNMP monitoring useful for correctly attributing hardware faults to the right physical component.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-ENTRELATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP/H3C Comware chassis-based switch
- HP/H3C Comware stackable switch
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, and its description indicates it is a structural/relationship MIB rather than one exposing runtime counters; without concrete object names it would be dishonest to describe a specific monitoring scenario, but in practice such a MIB would be queried alongside ENTITY-MIB's entPhysicalTable to resolve stack-port or combo-port pairings when diagnosing a physical entity issue.

RFC description
Physical entity relation tracking for HP/Arista switches, including stack and combo port pairs.
