Description: Siemens HiPath Wireless extension MIB for IEEE 802.11 providing vendor-specific radio and station management objects.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HIPATH-WIRELESS-DOT11-EXTNS-MIB?
HIPATH-WIRELESS-DOT11-EXTNS-MIB is a Siemens HiPath Wireless enterprise MIB that extends the standard IEEE 802.11 MIB with vendor-specific objects for HiPath Wireless LAN controllers and access points. It is expected to expose additional radio, station-association, and access-point management data beyond the baseline dot11 MIB, layered directly on top of that IETF standard. Administrators would use it to monitor wireless-specific software and radio status -- such as per-radio configuration state, associated client counts, and access point operational status -- supplementing baseline 802.11 statistics with Siemens-specific detail relevant to WLAN health. Because it is explicitly an extension of the IEEE 802.11 MIB, it has a direct and notable dependency on that standard and cannot be fully interpreted without it. It is typically deployed on Siemens HiPath Wireless controllers and access points in enterprise WLAN deployments. Engineers can download the HIPATH-WIRELESS-DOT11-EXTNS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HIPATH-WIRELESS-DOT11-EXTNS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Siemens HiPath Wireless LAN controller/access point
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were available for this module, so specific object or table names cannot be cited with confidence; in general, an administrator would expect to poll per-radio and per-station extension objects layered on the standard dot11StationTable to see vendor-specific signal quality or session detail not captured by the base 802.11 MIB, such as extended association or authentication status per client.
What Can Be Monitored
- radio configuration state
- client association status
- access point operational status
