Category: Standard: IEEE 802, Technology: OAM

Description: IEEE 802.1 MIB for draft D Connectivity Fault Management providing OAM management objects for an earlier CFM specification.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IEEE8021-DDCFM-MIB?

IEEE8021-DDCFM-MIB is an IEEE 802.1 Working Group standard MIB (part of IEEE Std 802.1Q) managing Data Dependent and Data Driven Connectivity Fault Management — CFM mechanisms triggered by or reacting to actual data traffic rather than periodic continuity checks. Its stack table, keyed by ifIndex, records Ring Reservation (RR) MD level/direction, RFM (Remote Fault Message?) receiver MD level, DR (Data-driven?) MD level/VLAN, and SFM Originator MD level/VLAN/direction, while an RR table records MD index/direction, primary VLAN, filter, sampling interval, target address, continue flag, duration (and time-based flag), VLAN priority, and drop-eligible flag. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm data-driven fault-management sampling and target configuration on an IEEE 802.1Q-compliant Ethernet switch. It is deployed on IEEE 802.1Q-compliant Ethernet switching equipment (Data Dependent/Driven CFM). Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the IEEE8021-DDCFM-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IEEE8021-DDCFM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • IEEE 802.1Q-compliant Ethernet switching equipment (Data Dependent/Driven CFM)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks ieee8021DdcfmRrSamplingInterval and ieee8021DdcfmRrTargetAddress to confirm data-driven fault-management sampling configuration on an IEEE 802.1Q switch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • data-dependent/data-driven CFM sampling and target configuration
