What Is HIPATH-WIRELESS-SMI?

HIPATH-WIRELESS-SMI is the root Structure of Management Information module for Siemens' HiPath Wireless product line, establishing the top-level enterprise OID namespace (enterprises.siemens(4329).15) under which all other HiPath Wireless WLAN MIBs are rooted. As a pure SMI/root module, it does not itself define monitorable objects; instead it provides the OBJECT IDENTIFIER hierarchy that organizes configuration, statistics, fault, and status MIBs for HiPath Wireless controllers and access points. Its relevance to monitoring is entirely structural/indirect: actual hardware and software status data (AP status, radio statistics, controller health) live in the dependent MIBs that branch from this root, not in this module itself. It is explicitly a dependency root for the full family of HiPath Wireless MIBs, making its inter-MIB relationship the defining characteristic of this module, and administrators tracing an unfamiliar object back to its parent namespace will find the HIPATH-WIRELESS-SMI OID at the top of that lineage. Typical deployment context is Siemens/Enterasys HiPath Wireless LAN controllers and access points in enterprise WLAN deployments.

Because this is a root SMI module defining only the OID namespace (enterprises.siemens(4329).15) with no monitorable objects of its own, there is no direct polling scenario; an administrator would instead browse or poll the dependent HiPath Wireless MIBs (e.g. access-point or radio-statistics MIBs) that are rooted under this namespace. Any AP or controller status anomaly would surface in those child MIBs' tables, not in this structural module.
