Description: HH3C MIB for RS-485 serial interface management on H3C devices with RS-485 console or sensor ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-RS485-MIB?

HH3C-RS485-MIB is an H3C MIB for managing RS-485 serial interfaces on H3C devices equipped with RS-485 ports, commonly used for console access or connecting external sensors/equipment. It exposes per-interface serial parameters (baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bits, flow control) as well as transmit/receive character and error counters, plus a raw session table for active serial sessions. Its monitoring value includes both configuration verification, confirming serial parameters match the attached equipment, and basic hardware/link-health monitoring via TX/RX error character counts, which can reveal a failing serial cable, connector, or mismatched line settings. It is a device-specific hardware-interface MIB not tied to a broader IETF standard, since RS-485 management isn't covered by common network MIBs. It is typically deployed on H3C devices that expose RS-485 ports for out-of-band console access or for integrating serial-based peripheral/environmental sensors, where an HH3C-RS485-MIB download helps confirm serial parameters and catch a failing cable or connector early.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-RS485-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C device with RS-485 serial port

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll hh3cRS485PropertiesTable to confirm hh3cRS485BaudRate, hh3cRS485DataBits, hh3cRS485Parity, and hh3cRS485StopBits match the expected configuration for an attached serial device, then check hh3cRS485TXErrCharacters and hh3cRS485RXErrCharacters for rising error counts. A steadily increasing hh3cRS485RXErrCharacters count alongside stable hh3cRS485RXCharacters would suggest a wiring, termination, or baud-rate mismatch problem on that RS-485 link. The hh3cRS485RawSessionSummary and hh3cRS485RawSessionNextIndex objects help track active raw serial sessions on the port.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RS-485 baud rate/parity/data bits configuration
  • TX/RX character counts
  • TX/RX error character counts
  • active raw serial sessions
